About Washington DC Trip

Washington DC Trip is an independent travel resource dedicated to helping you discover Washington, D.C., from the National Mall and Capitol Hill to the Smithsonian museums and Georgetown, the Tidal Basin and the Potomac waterfront, the towns and battlefields of Northern Virginia and Maryland, day trips into the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge across the state line, and the excursions that make sense from Washington.

What we do

We create in-depth, regularly updated travel guides covering Washington, D.C. and its surrounding neighborhoods, day trips around Northern Virginia and Maryland and into the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge, walks along the National Mall and through Georgetown, the museums and parks of the city, and practical planning advice โ€” including getting here via the region's airports and the Metro and regional bus network โ€” for both first-time and repeat visitors. Every article is researched thoroughly and written to give you genuine, useful advice โ€” not generic filler content.

How we earn

Washington DC Trip is funded through affiliate partnerships, primarily with GetYourGuide and Viator. When you book a tour or activity through one of our links, we earn a small commission at absolutely no extra cost to you. This income allows us to keep the site running, create new content, and maintain existing guides.

Our affiliate partnerships never influence our recommendations. We suggest activities and tours that we genuinely believe provide good value, regardless of commission rates.

Editorial independence

We are not sponsored by any tourism board, hotel chain, or tour operator. Our recommendations are entirely independent. If something is overpriced, overhyped, or not worth the trip, we will say so.
