Things to do in Colonial Williamsburg

Colonial Williamsburg is a paid, ticketed historic area, not a town centre you wander through for free: a single-day ticket runs roughly $50-$70, and multi-day passes are common because the site is large enough that most visitors need more than a few hours.

5 to 4 hours depending on traffic, which rules out a same-day round trip for a serious visit and points toward at least one overnight stay. This is a living-history reconstruction with costumed interpreters re-enacting the 18th century, not an original archaeological site, and it is not the seat of Virginia's government today - that role belongs to Richmond.

Nearby Yorktown and Jamestown are separate sites with their own admission fees, not included in a Williamsburg ticket.
