Things to do in Yorktown and Jamestown
Yorktown and Jamestown sit a few miles apart near Williamsburg, but they are two separate historic sites with two separate tickets, not one combined pass with the Colonial Williamsburg admission. 5 to 4 hours from Washington by car, similar to the drive time for Williamsburg itself, which makes it worth pairing all three on one trip rather than a single day out.
Where Williamsburg centres on large-scale costumed re-enactment and street life, Yorktown and Jamestown are shorter, self-paced visits built around battlefield sites, reconstructed settlements and museum exhibits.
Budget roughly half a day to a full day to cover both sites at a reasonable pace, and treat nearby Richmond as a separate destination for the city itself rather than an extension of this stop.
